Vegetable Harvest

The vegetable harvest from the garden turned out to be quite successful. The standout was undoubtedly the rhubarb, which, although perhaps left a bit too long and resembling umbrellas in the summer sun, still yielded some impressive, less woody stalks that made their way to the kitchen.

We were pleasantly surprised by our aubergines, managing to pick four of substantial size. Salads, including cucumbers, spring onions, and tomatoes, were plentiful as well. In the fruit section, we enjoyed a good haul of blueberries, raspberries and strawberries. The runner beans also produced a generous amount.

Navajo Indians Talk

We extend our thanks to Chris and Sue for spending the afternoon with us, where they delivered a captivating presentation and shared their experiences with the Navajo people.

It was fascinating to gain insight into what life was truly like in the classic Westerns we fondly remember watching on Sunday afternoons, often on BBC2. The artefacts they brought were impressive, and we were left feeling enriched with a deeper understanding of this remarkable culture.

‘Save The Bees’ Project

Thanks to our ‘Busy Bees’ for making many Bee Saving Kits.’ It consists of an informative sheet that highlights the critical role a healthy bee population plays in our food production systems. On the reverse side, you’ll find a handy gardening calendar that guides you on when to plant various flowers and vegetables, along with a list of monthly gardening tasks.

Additionally, each kit comes with a packet of bee-friendly flowering seeds. These have been donated to churches, schools and other community centres. Many thanks to all those that supported out project.
